The 2012 Czechoslovakian Collectors Association Convention will be held June 7-9, 2012 in Houston, Texas. We are excited to announce the Convention will be held in the Czech Center Museum Houston, located in the Museum district.
Established in 1995, the Czech Center Museum Houston (CCMH) is a cultural arts organization. The Center is based in Houston and was created to celebrate, share and promote the rich cultural abundance of a major Slavic ethnic group and their history. With a worldwide membership composed of members with multiple heritages, its museum and cultural center are considered essential resources for learning about one of our nation's diverse cultures and interwoven histories with others. The combination of the exhibits belonging to the Museum and the Jewelry, Pottery, Glass and other items brought by the members of the CCA will provide a rare opportunity to see many one of a kind items and hear experts on many different topics discuss their areas of interest and study.
Begining Thursday afternoon, the show will open to members only for a sneak preview of the various types of collectibles that are offered by the dealers for sale during the show. Friday and Saturday will feature speakers including Debbie Truitt on "The Glassworks of the Counts Harrach - 300 Years of Quality and Innovation". Another speaker will present a talk on identification of
Czech Glass. Rosie Bodien will give a presentation on Brychta figurines. Jaroslv Brychta was a professor at the Secondary School of Glass Studies in Zelezny Brod, which was founded in 1925. He designed a method of making Hutnicky Tvarovane Sklo glass figurines. Examles of these can be seen at the Museum and currently on the website on the "Collection of the Month" page.
